We made the booking a day before and he managed to organize us a driver from Mamaia, Constanta to Tulcea. The driver and the Guide were both friendly and helpful. The Delta was a great experience. De boot vertrok 's ochtends om 9.30 uur en de hele trip duurde ongeveer 7 uur. In een gemoedelijk tempo ging het via de zijvertakkingen van de Donau Delta. In de rustiger gelegen en smallere vaarroutes konden wij verschillende vogels spotten: veel zilverreigers, blauwe reigers, zwanen, pelikanen en twee soorten aalscholvers. Maar ook enkele ralreigers (Ardeola ralloides), lepelaars en zelfs twee zeearenden. Op een bepaald gedeelte van de delta zagen wij tientallen ijsvogels. Een warme lunch was optioneel vooraf te boeken. Iedereen van de totaal 6 passagiers had voor deze optie gekozen. Wij kregen als voorgerecht een vissoep en als hoofdgerecht twee soorten vis geserveerd. Alles werd vers aan boord bereid. En de vis was gelukkig wel afkomstig uit de Donau. Na de lunch werden wij in een kleine roeiboot naar een rustig meer geroeid en weer terug naar onze boot. Daarna ging de boottocht verder. De Donau Delta lijkt op een tropisch oerwoud. De enorme bomen die vaak door klimop zijn overwoekerd en de vogelgeluiden zorgen voor een exotisch decor. Het was een comfortabele boot met voordek en een achterdek en een toilet aan boord. De tour hebben wij de vooravond geboekt. Tijdens een wandeling langs de kade van Tulcea was de eigenaar aan het werk en konden wij deze tour ter plekke voor de volgende dag boeken. RON 200,- per persoon inclusief een warme lunch en exclusief fooi was voor ons een prima prijs.Jan S2019-09-14Amazing trip through Donau Delta with great guide The tour was well planned with varying and interesting stops. My wife and I were the only passengers on this tour, which we consider extremely good service. They guide and crew spoke very good English and were knowledgeable and friendly. They helped us spot birds and taught us about the ornithology, history, culture and geography of the Danube Delta. The hospitality aboard was above reproach. For lunch we were served the famous Danube Delta fish-stew, and it truly deserved its reputation as among the best of its kind in the world. We hotel pick-up and drop-off were smooth.
